{"id":94,"date":"2015-05-12T09:26:56","date_gmt":"2015-05-12T13:26:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sjcmenews.wpengine.com\/?p=94"},"modified":"2015-05-12T09:26:56","modified_gmt":"2015-05-12T13:26:56","slug":"when-in-rome-steve-bridge-takes-theology-students-abroad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.sjcme.edu\/news\/when-in-rome-steve-bridge-takes-theology-students-abroad\/","title":{"rendered":"When in Rome: Steve Bridge takes Theology Students Abroad"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This May, students in Steve Bridge&#8217;s course The Rome Experience are spending two weeks visiting Rome&#8217;s historical, cultural, and religious sites.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.sjcme.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2015\/05\/DSC_3375.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-92\" src=\"https:\/\/sjcmenews.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/DSC_3375-1024x596.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_3375\" width=\"635\" height=\"370\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.sjcme.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2015\/05\/DSC_3375-1024x596.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.sjcme.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2015\/05\/DSC_3375-300x174.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.sjcme.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2015\/05\/DSC_3375-768x447.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 635px) 100vw, 635px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The group\u2014composed of students\u00a0Charlotte Mattingly, Aprille Hibbard, Matthew Pfannenstiel, and Lauren Sharples and professors Camilla Fecteau and Chris Callaway, and being led by Bridge\u2014will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>attend a general audience with Pope Francis;<\/li>\n<li>tour the archaeological excavations beneath St. Peter&#8217;s Basilica;<\/li>\n<li>travel to Turin to witness firsthand the mysterious and enigmatic\u00a0\u00a0Shroud of Turin;<\/li>\n<li>attend Pope Francis&#8217; Pentecost Mass in St. Peter&#8217;s Square;<\/li>\n<li>tour the Vatican museums, as well as the Sistine Chapel;<\/li>\n<li>visit the Coliseum, the Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill; and<\/li>\n<li>sampling as much artisan-crafted gelato, pasta, and pizza as possible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Students will take turns writing guest posts for this blog.
