FAQ Forum: Top-Level Organization

In many ways, sjcme.edu is the Saint Joseph’s College’s front door. If someone wants to learn more about the College, they don’t hop in the car or pick up the phone like they might have done 15 years ago. They Google it.

Knowing our site reflects every part of Saint Joseph’s College—and that our users will range from parents of prospective students to alumni—we also knew that the website redesign project had to be collaborative. So, when the IT and Marketing & Communications departments first began the Web project in early 2014, we set out to create six website subcommittees with representatives from departments across campus.

Determined by best practices in higher education user experience, these subcommittees represented the six main sections of our site: Academics,  Admissions, Experience SJC, Life & Community, Athletics, and About Us . Subcommittees met weekly, and by the end, each had created a comprehensive navigational structure for the new site.

In essence, we had our blueprint for both content and organization.

Below you’ll find submenus for each of the six main sections. Though these menus are critical to the structure of the site, like the rest of our site, they’re fluid. Like any good website, ours will continuously evolve in order to meet the ever-changing needs of our users.

Note: Absent is Athletics, which will continue to redirect to the already-robust gomonks.com.

These submenus, though they may look condensed, do an impressive job covering all that Saint Joseph’s College has to offer. That said, much of our content has been moved to mySJC, a new, password-protected portal that will roll out with the launch of the new site. More on mySJC will follow in the next post!
