When in Rome: Steve Bridge takes Theology Students Abroad

This May, students in Steve Bridge’s course The Rome Experience are spending two weeks visiting Rome’s historical, cultural, and religious sites.

The group—composed of students Charlotte Mattingly, Aprille Hibbard, Matthew Pfannenstiel, and Lauren Sharples and professors Camilla Fecteau and Chris Callaway, and being led by Bridge—will:

  • attend a general audience with Pope Francis;
  • tour the archaeological excavations beneath St. Peter’s Basilica;
  • travel to Turin to witness firsthand the mysterious and enigmatic  Shroud of Turin;
  • attend Pope Francis’ Pentecost Mass in St. Peter’s Square;
  • tour the Vatican museums, as well as the Sistine Chapel;
  • visit the Coliseum, the Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill; and
  • sampling as much artisan-crafted gelato, pasta, and pizza as possible.
